We celebrated the 24th (Utah Holiday) the whole week. We started on Monday night by going to the parade preview with the Reynolds clan. Isaac had a hard time being convinced that it was fun. We put him on a float next to a huge caterpillar and he let out a horror-filled scream. We all thought it was funny. He enjoyed being with cousins and with G'ma and G'pa.
We did some fun "out of the ordinary" type things like a girls shopping/beading trip for a little momento of our time together, watching a movie on a sheet from my parent's deck (lots of good treats - caramel corn, homemade candy bars, licorice, junior mints, etc), went out to dinner with the whole crew (quite a feat for us) and a family picture in which all members of the family had a smile on their face at the same time (even Isaac and Claire and Jon - jk Jon).
Courtesy of Isaac, most family members have new nicknames. Jon is now the "rocket man" because he was the main pyro for our 24th celebration. Stephanie is now "duffy." And G'pa varied between "kaypot" to "crapaw."
Day 1 - Isaac got off to an early start by spraying G'ma with the hose just before we were to go shopping. Isaac also thought Sarah and Jon made good targets.Isaac made friends with the checker at the grocery story (what a patient guy!) by trying to turn off his cash register, going through his garbage, and rubbing his leg. Jon, the family cook, made BBQ jerk chicken and a southwest potato salad.
Day 2 - Some braver souls than me and Steve went to see Batman and returned with various levels of disturbed feelings. Cookout again with Nicholas trying out his tri-tip skills on the grill. We did some fireworks until "friendly fire" from our neighbors' illegal fireworks sent us inside for cover (after a close shave with a bottle rocket, that was enough for me).
Day 3 - Shopping. Shopping. Shopping. Bubbles and chit chat while cooking out. Late night movie outside with a projector and laptop. Great treats - great times!
Day 4 - Shopping for beading stuff, family picture, dinner at Mimi's Cafe afterward (mmm).
Day 5 - Sunday. Quiet day with everyone doing their own thing and talking.
Day 6 - Monday - "helped" Sarah and Jon sort through things they had to leave behind when they moved. Shopping (yes, again). Lunch at Cafe Rio. Said our goodbyes (man, I hate those).

Sounds like so much fun! Lisa was disturbed by Dark Knight too...she had bad dreams and had to pray at 4 a.m. to get rid of the icky feelings. I think I'll pass on the movie..thanks.
